16–07–2020 Free from Discourse Collaboration For PASSE-AVANT the authors Luisa Del Prete, Naomi Rado and Demba Sanoh wrote an article about the current debate on the presentation of a racist painting by Georg Herold. In their text, which is accompanied by comments from James Gregory Atkinson, Nicholas Grafia and Geneviève Lassey, they reveal the extent to which this is not an isolated case in German museums and what it means to assume responsibility as an institution.

18–06–2020 Speaking Persuasively Galerie Rothamel, Frankfurt & Kunsthalle Darmstadt Artist text Im Jahr 2017 malte Ellen Akimoto ein Bild, dem sie den Titel The Lower Left Hand Corner of Such a Good Painting gab. Es unterscheidet sich von vielen anderen ihrer Bilder, da es aus nur drei Elementen besteht: einem Parkettfußboden, einer weißen Wand, einem an ihr hängenden abstrakten Gemälde. Perspektive und Bildausschnitt sind so gewählt, dass die drei Sujets jeweils nur zum Teil zu sehen sind.
12–06–2020 There's a Crack in Everything Artist text We’re looking at an almost perfectly painted black canvas. At first glance it seems to be a little tattered on the edges, but a closer look reveals that the fringes are actually tape. Affixed nearly in the middle of the canvas is a cut-out detail of a photograph, which depicts a torn open animal mouth and one single, white tooth.

In order to pay attention to the work of young artists, who are affected by these circumstances, PASSE-AVANT initiated a livestream series on Instagram titled 'Sunday's Stream On'. For the second episode, Berlin-based artist Samantha Bohatsch did a reading performance and answered our 'Quarantine Questionnaire'.
18–04–2020 Samantha Bohatsch in isolation Artist text For the exhibtion 'Body. Gaze. Power' at Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Samantha Bohatsch created the audio-visual work *BB * which is installed in the Roman bath ruins on site. Since the exhibition is currently closed due to the pandemic, PASSE-AVANT invited the artist to work on an online version of her performance.
17–04–2020 A Carpet for Your Somersaults Galerie Fons Welters, Amsterdam Exhibition Note Thinking inwards, I remember the trampoline had green tape on it. I saw it in the dark, it was raining.Now in the film I see the tape to be white and black. After 12 seconds of a dark screen the trampoline appears amidst summer foliage. Black bars, black net, white clusters of tape on both, the part that one actually jumps on is black with a dark teal skirting, a grey metal structure and a rusty ladder are peaking out.

31–03–2020 Jasmin Werner's Façadomy Damien & The Love Guru, Brussels Exhibition Note 17,000 years ago, a number of holes were made in the walls of the caves of Lascaux, in the South of France. Branches were stuck in the holes, serving as stable horizontal beams. Vertical beams were then attached, creating a structure that gave access to the ceiling. This is how the Lascaux caves were painted.
